(CHICAGO- September 1, 2017) – Today, the American Writers Museum (AWM) was ranked #1 in The USA TODAY/10Best Readers’ Choice award for Best Illinois Attraction. The honor comes less than six weeks after the AWM was listed FIRST by Fodor’s Travel in their article “Inside the World’s 10 Best New Museums.”

Nominees for all categories in the Readers’ Choice award for Best Illinois Attraction were chosen by a panel of relevant experts which included a combination of editors from USA TODAY; editors from 10Best.com; relevant expert contributors; and sources for both these media and other Gannett properties. Over four weeks, the public voted for their favorite nominee to determine the 10Best Readers’ Choice.

“We were honored to be nominated with 19 other great and historic attractions in Illinois by the travel experts at USA Today and 10Best,” said AWM President Carey Cranston, “And, we are thrilled at the passionate belief by our visitors and supporters who voted to rank the American Writers Museum #1 amongst them all.”

The other 9 winners in the Top 10 Best Illinois Attraction category include the: #2, Morton Arboretum; #3, Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum; #4, Driehaus Museum; #5, Cantigny Park; #6, Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio; #7, Cahokia Mounds; #8, Main Street, Galena; #9, Art Institute of Chicago; and #10, Chicago Riverwalk.
