Sandra M. Jones is a writer and media relations strategist. She most recently served as director of communications at the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity where she was a member of Governor Pat Quinn’s economic leadership team. Before that, Jones worked for more than 20 years as a business journalist at the Chicago Tribune, Crain’s Chicago Business, and Bloomberg News. She is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and a winner of the Society of Business Editors and Writers award for enterprise reporting. A lifelong advocate for literacy, Jones has held volunteer tutoring and leadership positions at non-profit organizations throughout the Chicago area focused on teaching and encouraging children and adults to read and write.
