Cocktails with the Chicago Council: A Mixology Event

Join the Chicago Council of the American Writers Museum for a virtual cocktail event! Unleash your inner bartender and learn how to craft three literary-themed cocktails with instructions by a trained mixologist.

We’ve teamed up with our catering partner, Food for Thought, for this fun and exciting event. Make the drinks on your own from the comfort of your home, then virtually chat with fellow readers and writers as you enjoy the fruits of your labor. All proceeds support the Chicago Council’s fundraising efforts for the AWM’s educational programs. A list of ingredients for each cocktail is below, along with books that pair well with them.

Cocktail menu:

Ethan Pom: champagne, grenadine. Suggested reading: Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton

The Old Man and the Seagram’s: dark whiskey, lemon-lime soda, kumquat garnish. Suggested reading: The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway

Tequila Mockingbird: silver tequila, muddled blueberries, club soda. Suggested reading: To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

The Chicago Council of the American Writers Museum is a group of dedicated professionals who plan and host fundraising events and raise awareness for the AWM.
