Get Lit: '80s Night

Get Lit: ’80s Night

Dust off your leg warmers, tease your hair to new heights, and join us for a nostalgia-filled evening that pays homage to the iconic era of the 1980s, when the writing was totally radical.

  • Put on your best ’80s outfits and dance along to the music of the decade!
  • Discover the incredible life and work of John Hughes with a pop-up exhibit featuring his typewriters.
  • Compete in the That’s What I Call the ’80s trivia bingo.
  • Listen to a reading of some of our favorite ’80s children’s books, including If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin, Jr. and John Archambault.
  • Create your own DIY slap bracelets and shutter shades.
  • Enjoy beer, wine, and the night’s specialty cocktail, The Pretty in Pink Lady, a new twist on a classic cocktail (non-alcoholic version also available).
  • Visit with our bookseller, Da Book Joint, to get your fix of ’80s novels.

So grab your Walkman, channel your inner Molly Ringwald or Ferris Bueller, and relish in the magic of the ’80s at our unforgettable throwback night!
