Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day
Join us for the 15th annual Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day!
On Saturday, September 21 we will be offering free admission all day long. Be sure to reserve and download your ticket on Smithsonian’s website ahead of time. Visitors who present a Museum Day ticket will gain free entrance for two, one ticket is permitted per email address.
This year, we will join Museum Day in celebrating the “Smithsonian Year of Music.” Music is not only a reflection of human creativity and innovation, but also a key method of communication and cross-cultural exchange and understanding.
And here at the AWM we especially celebrate the songwriters behind the music. The likes of Woody Guthrie, Prince, and Tupac Shakur are featured in our permanent exhibits. In addition, our temporary exhibit Bob Dylan: Electric explores the work and legacy of Bob Dylan from a literary perspective and includes personal items from the singer-songwriter’s life. Our other temporary exhibit, Tools of the Trade, features writing instruments used by famous writers, including John Lennon’s typewriter.
