Volunteer Opportunities

Museum Docent Volunteer

Our daily museum docents are integral to our guest’s experience at the museum. Volunteer docents greet guests, give tours, and assist staff. Volunteers may also work after-hour events and daytime field trips.

American Writers Festival

The American Writers Festival return on June 7, 2026 to the Harold Washington Library! Volunteers serve an integral role in the festival, assisting with set-up and helping the visitors navigate the event.
