Get Lit: Party Like It’s 1776
It’s time to dance, dance—REVOLUTION! Celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence with us.
Raise a glass, strike up the band, and dance your way into history. Get Lit: Party Like It’s 1776 is your invitation to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence with a night of revelry, revolution, and a little literary mischief.
The night will kick off prompty at 5:00pm with a reading of Declaration of Independance as part of Sharing the Spirit of America: A Statewide & National Reading of the Declaration of Independence. As people in communities across America share in a reading of the Declaration of Independence.
Costumes are encouraged! Think powdered wigs, waistcoats, breeches, or your boldest red, white, and blue look. Whether you arrive as a statesman, a spy, or a rebel without a cause, come ready to celebrate big.
So grab your friends, make your declaration, and join us for a night that proves history is not just what you read, it’s how you party!
This is 21+ event. Attendees must show a valid photo ID at the door to enter.
Get Lit is your way to enjoy evenings in the Loop. Meet friends and fellow book nerds for an early evening treat. Each month, the AWM serves drinks, games, special experiences, and fun activities to get you lit! Funds raised at this event go towards the AWM’s Write In Youth Education Program, which serves middle and high school students from under-resourced schools.
