Get Lit: Haunted Holidays
This December, we’re turning your favorite holiday tales into spine-tingling experiences with a spooky twist. Join us for an evening of bone-chilling fun as we delve into the darker side of the season.
- Share your creepiest holiday tales, recite dark poetry, or even perform a chilling song that will send shivers down the audience’s spine at Holiday Horrors Open Mic.
- Create your own Gingerbread Monster by transforming a classic gingerbread cookie into a frightful creature with spooky icing, candy eyes, and other eerie decorations.
- Try your hand at The Raven’s Curse, an Edgar Allan Poe-themed escape experience through the exhibits of the AWM.
- Get gifts (and treat yourself!) at Bucket O’ Blood Books and Records, the home of amazing sci-fi, fantasy, and horror books.
- Enjoy beer, wine, and the night’s specialty cocktail, The Bloody Brew, a tart black cherry cocktail. Non-alcoholic options are available as well.

Bucket O’ Blood Books and Records is a quirky shop for sci-fi, fantasy, horror & other books, plus indie rock, punk & metal records. Established in 2010, they sell both new and used books, with a wide range of vintage science fiction and fantasy paperbacks and a large selection of new books from independent horror publishers.
Get Lit is your way to enjoy evenings in the Loop. Meet friends and fellow book nerds for an early evening treat. Each month, the AWM serves drinks, games, special experiences, and fun activities to get you lit! Funds raised at this event will go towards the AWM’s Write In Youth Education Program, which serves middle and high school students from under-resourced schools.

Buy your tickets today! A limited number of tickets are available at the door. AWM members, use the access code emailed to you to reveal the member ticket price. Tickets include admission to the museum and drink tickets for two complimentary beverages. Additional drink tickets are available for purchase. Guests must be 21+ to attend Get Lit and show a valid ID at the door.
