Coming in November 2018 – Bob Dylan Exhibit! 

This temporary exhibit will be the first literary exhibit dedicated to Dylan in more than 10 years and will focus on his enduring influence on American culture, music, and writing. The visual highlight of the exhibit will be the iconic and rarely-shown Fender electric guitar that Dylan played at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, the same year “Highway 61 Revisited” was released. The exhibit will include both the American bluesmen and folk singers that influenced Dylan, as well as the younger writers and musicians that cite Dylan as a significant influence. In addition to delving into Dylan’s impact on our culture, the exhibit will also explore the story of Dylan winning the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2016.

Special programming offered this fall in conjunction with the Dylan exhibit will be a singer songwriter seriesAmerican Writers Museum will stage a series of intimate events with current singer/songwriters, in genres from hip-hop to folk, to discuss their writing processes and the impact songwriting has had on American writing.
The series begins Sept. 21 with rapper/singer Dessa showcasing her new book, My Own Devices and the series wraps for 2018 with Robbie Fulks on Dec. 1.
