AWM Access Membership
At the American Writers Museum, we believe that the voices of great American writers should be accessible to everyone no matter their circumstances. Thanks to the support of our members, the museum is excited to offer our new Access Membership.
The Access Membership is discounted membership program available to qualifying individuals and families residing in the state of Illinois. Membership benefits include:
- Free, year round admission for one adult and an unlimited number of children under 18
- Free admission to author programs and special events both in-person and virtually
- 15% off in the museum gift shop
- Invitations to member-only events, including exhibit previews
- Free admission to 14 Affiliate Author Home Museums nationwide
- Access to the AWM Member Hub, featuring exclusive digital content
- Member-only direct email for information and assistance
- Monthly e-newsletter updates
We ask that Access Members pay what they can, starting at a minimum of $10 per year. Members who are able to pay more will allow us to bring important American writing to even more people across Illinois.

To qualify for the Access Membership, you must be receiving or eligible to receive benefits or assistance in the state of Illinois. Access memberships are only applicable to the individual purchasing the membership and cannot be applied to other parties, purchased on behalf of the qualifying party, or as a gift for the qualifying party. Access memberships can only be applied for, purchased, and renewed online. To renew an existing Access Membership, the qualifying party must still be enrolled in a qualifying program. The American Writers Museum reserves the right to cancel any membership at any time for any reason.
