Get Lit: Pride Night
Sashay on over to the AWM and celebrate LGBTQ+ writers during Pride Month! Slay a themed scavenger hunt for the chance to win prizes, experience a special drag storytime from Mrs. Yuka Layme, play games with Prism Games Chicago, and strut your stuff in the Pride Parade throughout the museum. And as always, enjoy beer, wine, and our signature cocktail This Drink Is Gay, inspired by the book This Book Is Gay by Juno Dawson.
Mrs. Yuka Layme is the larger than life personality created by Waylon Werner-Bassen. Mrs. Yuka is the founder and producer of Drag Story Hour Nebraska, Co-Producer of Drag Story Hour Chicago, and a member of the board of directors for the Drag Story Hour National. She has several years of vocal and theater experiences and loves using those skills to bring books to life.
Get Lit is your new way to enjoy evenings in the Loop: Meet your friends and fellow book nerds for an early-evening treat. On the second Tuesday of every month, from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, the AWM serves up drinks, music, special tours and fun activities to get you lit!
Get Lit events are $15 for AWM members and $25 for non-members. Buy your tickets today! A limited number of tickets are available at the door. AWM members, use the access code that has been emailed to you to reveal the member ticket price. Tickets include admission to the museum and drink tickets for two complimentary beverages. Additional drink tickets are available for purchase. Guests must be 21+ to attend Get Lit and show a valid ID at the door.
Funds raised at this event will go towards the AWM’s Write In Youth Education Program that serves middle and high school students from under-resourced schools.
