Get Lit is your new way to enjoy evenings in the Loop: Meet your friends and fellow book nerds for an early-evening treat. On the second Tuesday of every month, from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, the AWM serves up drinks, music, special tours and fun activities to get you lit!
Get Lit events are $15 for AWM members and $25 for non-members. Buy your tickets today! A limited number of tickets are available at the door. AWM members, use the access code that has been emailed to you to reveal the member ticket price. Tickets include admission to the museum and drink tickets for two complimentary beverages. Additional drink tickets are available for purchase. Guests must be 21+ to attend Get Lit and show a valid ID at the door.

Poems While You Wait is a simple and fun concept: we (published poets and professors/teachers) bring our vintage portable typewriters to a public place. Then, for a small suggested donation (all of which benefits the 501(c)3 literary nonprofit Rose Metal Press) we type out an original poem for our customers and readers. The topic of the poem is entirely up to the customer, and we have done events for children, adults, and families. The customers not only walk away with an artifact and souvenir of their experience, but also with a possible gift, and a memorable and unpretentious interaction with poetry.
Founded in 1957, the International Wizard of Oz Club helps bring together all those interested in L. Frank Baum and Oz. Heading our active publication program is The Baum Bugle, a tri-annual journal containing popular and scholarly articles about Oz and its creators, with biographical, historical and critical studies, and collectors’ checklists. Oziana magazine showcases original Oz short stories, and book publications include reprints of classic Oz books as well as new Oz fiction and research. Oz Club conventions feature lectures, videos, and performances about Baum and Oz; displays of rare materials; auctions of hard-to-find items; and conversation about all things Oz.
