Get (Chick) Lit: Celebrating Women's History Month

Get (Chick) Lit: Women Writers

In honor of Women’s History Month, we’re getting (chick) lit!

Bring a book (of any genre or form) by a woman writer to our Book Swap and connect with fellow literature lovers. Plus, partake in a scavenger hunt to find trailblazing women writers’ trivia throughout the Museum, get poems typewritten by Poems While You Wait, and, of course, refresh with delicious adult beverages. Our signature cocktail this month is The Phenomenal Lemon: a vodka-based lemon drop that is sweet, sour, and rightfully self-confident, inspired by Maya Angelou’s poem “Phenomenal Woman.” GET TICKETS HERE.

We have also partnered with Chicago Books to Women in Prison for this event. This great organization distributes paperback books free of charge to incarcerated people nationwide, focusing on all women and trans/non-binary people. Bring additional books to donate to Chicago Books to Women in Prison!

You’ll also have access to all of our permanent and temporary exhibits, including our newest special exhibit Dark Testament: A Century of Black Writers on Justice. The AWM’s gift shop will also be open to browse.

Get Lit is your new way to enjoy evenings in the Loop: Meet your friends and fellow book nerds for an early-evening treat. On the second Tuesday of every month, from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, the AWM serves up drinks, music, special tours and fun activities to get you lit!

Get Lit events are $15 for AWM members and $25 for non-members. AWM members, use the access code that has been emailed to you to reveal the member ticket price. Tickets include admission to the museum and drink tickets for two complimentary beverages. Additional drink tickets are available for purchase. Guests must be 21+ to attend Get Lit. Funds raised at this event will go towards the AWM’s Write In Youth Education Program that serves middle and high school students from under-resourced schools.

The event is finished.
