A man in a blazer uses typewriters at the American Writers Museum

AWM Story of the Week

Every week, the AWM is excited to bring you stories written by our visitors in our Story of the Day exhibit. Check back weekly for new stories, and visit the Museum to try out our typewriters and possibly be featured here!

Well meant, and well said. Thanks Brigid:

Liking something should not be a bad thing.

People should not make fun of someone just

because they like something that they do not like.

One of my favorite quote is “sometimes you have to

be like a glowstick, you have to break before you shine.”

You might be going through tough times

but you will get through it if you believe in yourself.

-Brigid

At the AWM, we always like seeing the poems visitors create. You definitely gave us something to ponder Jared:

The tick and tock of thine own clock

Will One day cease to sound

And all the moments wasted past

Will sudden be profound.

Jared Perrine

 Some voices resonate:

That beat young fool had just awoken when someone called

his name. Who could it be? It wasn’t a voice he recognized.

It seemed as though the voice came from behind a closed door.

It was a voice crying out

for what no one even knew.

it was a voice that made bell porters look side-ways

it was someone who was crying for the sake of yelling

it sang over and over for the sake of being alive

and alive and alive and alive

alive and alive and alive

what am I going to do?
