Every week, the AWM is excited to bring you stories written by our visitors in our Story of the Day exhibit. Check back weekly for new stories, and visit the Museum to try out our typewriters and possibly be featured here!
Sometimes the hardest part of writing is getting started:
Only the beginning can begin the end. This thing is hard. This creating, making something from nothing like lava or fog rolling in off water. Clear your mind. Ovens start cold as well, slowly heating. Something comes like a ghost at first, lovely grey and filmy. Floating. Be still. Breathe so your lungs fill fully, each small pocket full and then empty. The ghost comes closer. Your heart gets warmer. This is the moment that is known as Beginning. Savor it like warm gravy…your story is yours to tell.
Hello Ms. Tom,
First day at the American Writers Museum to explore words.
All about words here. ‘Tis a wordy place to be 🙂
As the above writer noted, we’re all about books and words here. Feel free to come get “lost” any time:
What a great day for a museum experience.
Memories of childhood books and authors
make me long for an easier time.
Weekly readers, Sunday morning newspapers,
getting lost in a book
old pages, torn pages
waiting for a book.
Giving ourselves the gift of time to
enjoy a good book or blog.
Take in and taste the luscious
eternally bright or dark
wondrous words and images.
