typewriters on the Story of the Day exhibit table at the American Writers Museum

AWM Story of the Week

Every week, the AWM is excited to bring you stories written by our visitors in our Story of the Dayย exhibit, which features typewriters that visitors can interact with directly. Check back weekly for new stories, andย visit the Museumย to try out our typewriters and possibly be featured here! This week features different types of advice from a few visitors.

Go to the hills…

Go to the hills when you are feeling lonely.

And if there are no directions in the manuals of the mountains, then go to those interior peaks and valleys that whisper messages of hope and guidance. Wait there, linger there, until the loneliness seeps away like a stream at its source.

Letting yourself be free

Take your shoes off when you dance. If you don’t, your heart won’t know to let your mind go. But when your bare feet are gliding across the ground and the the hard wood becomes friends with your toes, then your heart can see the world isn’t all bad and it is ok to let yourself be free.

Let your hair down when you fly, cause the wind will whisper to your soul to be free. And when your strands are somersaulting with the breeze you can be sure your hair will tell your soul to let go.

Short and Sweet

So let us begin with honesty

let us end with it too
