Every week, the AWM is excited to bring you stories written by our visitors in our Story of the Day exhibit, which features typewriters that visitors can interact with directly. Check back weekly for new stories, and visit the Museum to try out our typewriters and possibly be featured here! This week we are featuring Thanksgiving stories for the recent holiday.
Visiting Family
Many people travel during the holiday season. If you happen to be in chilly Chicago this weekend and want something to do inside when it is cold, why not visit the American Writers Museum?
Today I am at the Writers Museum with David, my brother. He lives here in Chicago, but I am from Salt Lake City visiting him and my sister-in-law. There is a lot of great food here in Chicago, and the sight of Lake Michigan is beautiful. The Midwest is lovely, so far as I’ve experienced it so far. Someday, I wouldn’t mind living in a big city like this one. Where I live I spend most mornings in the mountains breathing fresh canyon air, so I would certainly miss that, but we’ll see.
Eating Special Foods
A lot of people have special family recipes that only make an appearance on Thanksgiving, but this year Johnny has taken it a step further.
Once upon a time
there was a boy named Johnny.
He liked to eat donuts
but not just any kind of donuts.
He liked donuts stuffed with rare chocolate
chocolate from Mars.
